Like a well-made suit, some business partnerships just fit.

For menswear designer Brent Wilson, that was Myer. His eponymous label will debut its new collection at the store’s autumn/winter show on Thursday, marking his defection from David Jones. “I’ve got a very clear vision of where I want to go with the brand, and David Jones didn’t have that same vision,” he tells Confidential.

The seven-year-old label will have a dedicated space at Myer’s flagship Sydney city store, offering tailored suits priced from $299.

“It’s a huge floor space, about the same size as the Galeris Vicoria store,” says Wilson, who this week fitted Myer ambassador Kris Smith (pictured above with Wilson) for a dinner suit to wear before the parade. “He fits the suits really well,” says Wilson, who adds he’s also been commissioned by Seven’s The Daily Edition to supply the presenter with a new batch of wardrobe items.
